Robert Stemmler Nugent Vineyard Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, CA

Regular: $51.99, VIP PRICE $47.99

This beautiful Pinot Noir comes from a single vineyard in the heart of the Russian River Valley. The Nugent vineyard was planted in 1997 and features three distinct clones of Pinot Noir, which complement each other and bring balance to this elegant wine. Each vineyard block is hand-harvested early in the morning. The wine is fermented in all French oak, about 15% new, and ages for over 10 months. Stemmler then tastes through all the barrels and selects the best, blending these to make the Nugent Vineyard Pinot Noir.

In the glass, the wine is ruby-purple in color. The nose shows aromas of black cherry, blackberry, flint, and spice. On the palate dark berry flavors dominate, with undertones of vanilla. The long finish is elevated, with beautiful balanced freshness.

Tenimenti Spinsanti “Sassone,” Marche, Italy 2008

Regular: $44.99, VIP Price $41.99

This blend of Montepulciano, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot heralds from the 2008 vintage, making it a phenomenal find just in time for the holidays. The wine is aged in small French oak barrels for 24-36 months, giving this bold wine even more depth, body, and texture. The wine boasts aromas of cherries, coffee and clove. The taste is full-bodied, soft, dense, concentrated and powerful, with thick and very soft tannins driven by a long finish.

Gibbs Cabernet Sauvignon Centa Vineyard Reserve, Napa Valley, CA

Regular: $84.99, VIP Price $79.99

92 James Suckling, 90 Wine & Spirits, 93 Vinous

You may be familiar with Gibbs from their Dusty Red, which we have been featuring at Wine on Main. Their Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a small-production showstopper- only 225 cases were made. All of the grapes are hand-picked from the Centa Vineyard in St. Helena, Napa Valley. Planted adjacent to the Silverado Trail at the narrowest part of the valley, this vineyard sees intense heat throughout the summer season and its chock-full of obsidian, which makes for a stunning, lush, full-bodied wine.

Dense, concentrated, and complex, the wine is dark purple on the verge of black in the glass. Generous aromatics of baking spice, leather, earth, and a hint of eucalyptus compliment a body bursting with crushed dark fruits, juicy cherry, red currant, earthy notes, and a touch of dark cocoa on the finish. The tannins are sizable but soft, bringing structure to the complex flavors and extending the already lengthy finish.
