Wine on Main will partner with Neptune School of Wine WSET Approved Program Provider #838 to host WSET certification courses this August! WSET is short for Wine Spirits Education & Education Trust.

Level II will take place over two days: Saturday August 19 and Sunday August 20.  This is a special opportunity to complete all of your coursework in just ONE weekend and then take the test online at a later date once you’ve had time to study. Details and sign-up here.  You can register right up until Saturday, so you can even decide to take this course last minute.  Just make sure to register.

NEW OPTION: Join the WSET Experience Without Fully Enrolling

For people who are interested in learning more about WSET Level II, but don’t want to commit to the whole weekend or taking the exam, you can now come audit 1 or more sessions.  Level II is broken up into 4 parts- Saturday am, Saturday pm, Sunday am, and Sunday pm, so you can choose the time and/or theme that works for you and come sit in.  You’ll have the opportunity to learn from Master of Wine Lindsay Pomeroy, taste an array of wines, and learn material directly from the WSET.  $140/session.  Details below.  Sign-up here for any session.

Session 1: Saturday, 9am-1pm

Course Introduction, Tasting Technique, Food and wine Pairing.Natural and Viticulture factors influencing production of red wines (Pinot Noir around the world including Burgundy). Winery Factors influencing production of red wines and Zinfandel. We will try 3 wines.

Session 2: Saturday, 2pm-6pm

Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Gamay, Grenache, Tempranillo, Carmenere, Malbec, Pinotage and their main regions around the world including Northern Rhone, Southern Rhone, Argentina, South Africa, Bordeaux, Napa, California, etc. We will taste approximately 8-12 wines

Session 3: Sunday, 9am-1pm

Natural and Human factors influencing production of White, Sweet, Rose Wines Riesling, Chenin Blanc, Semillon, Furmint, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio/Pinot Gris, Gewurtztraminer, Viognier, Albarino. We will cover regions in Germany, Alsace, Australia, New Zealand, Loire Valley, etc.  We will taste around 8-13 wines.

Session 4: Sunday, 2pm-6pm

Learn the Italian grapes: (Cortese, Garganega, Verdicchio, Foiano, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Corvina, Sangiovese, Montepulciano) and their main regions (Barolo, Valpolicella, Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Southern Italy, etc). We will taste around 8-13 wines.
